Seminars on Ramacharita Manasa

October 31, 2013 |

Question: How can we understand that Srila Prabhupada said that Ramacharita Manasa should not be printed in ISKCON and yet we find senior devotees giving seminars on the same? NB: In this recording, Maharaj is referring to a lecture on Ramacharita Manasa that he had given previously. You can hear to that lecture here: About Ramacaritamanasa.

Shall I Allow Muslims to Stay at the Next Door?

May 6, 2011 |

Question: What is our responsibilities to our dharma, our society, our country and our own self? Can we (being a member of ISKCON) allow any other dharma person (say muslim) to live nearby us, as our neighbor, in our property, only because of money he pays? And importance only given to the MONEY? And forget the responsibility to our surroundings, and other neighbours?

Where Did Prabhupada Come From?

Question:

About Srila Prabhupada, we hear devotees quoting Caitanya Mangala where Lord Caitanya says "I will send my senapati bhakta"; (there is also the prediction of Bhaktivinoda Thakura).

On the other hand Srila Prabhupada says about one astrologer who told him that he was a physician in his previous life; his inclination to play a physician in a children's play; and the reason of coming back (not BTG) – the killing of the snake in order to make a medicine from its poison.

The 2 info we reconciled but we need also the opinion of other devotees.

Namely, just as Drona and Dhara went into the bodies of their source the nitya sparsadas Vasudeva and Devaki, similarly Srila Prabhupada should have had an expansion that became one with its origin, the senapati bhakta predicted by Lord Caitanya.

No Desire to Serve the Lord in Santa Rati

July 7, 2012 |

Question: In the purport to CC Madhya 8.294, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura is quoted poiting out that the Yamuna, the kadamba trees, cows, Krishna's flute and Krishna's sticks belong to the santa-rasa. Question:

In the purport to CC Madhya 8.294, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura is quoted poiting out that the Yamuna, the kadamba trees, cows, Krishna's flute and Krishna's sticks belong to the santa-rasa. Furthermore, in CC Madhya, 19.185 it's said that santa-rati is the neutral stage between the conception of impersonalism and personalism… not much willing to render service to the Lord.

It's difficult to understand how a living entity without the desire to render loving service can be in Goloka Vrndavana. And if I remember cows in Brahma-vimohana-lila, they seemed to have motherly affection toward Krishna (expanded as their calves). How to understand that the river Yamuna and the kalpa-vrksa trees also don't have much desire to serve?

Standards for Cooking for Deities and Pictures

May 1, 2016 |

Question: As far as cooking prasada for the deities, the standard as I know is to be second initiated. Does this apply to cooking for the devotees and offering it to a picture? In Krishna house they have devotees cooking who chant 8 rounds and its questionable if they are following the regulated principles. Would this effect one's consciousness and can this be considered a fit offering to the Lord?
