Condemn Modern Civilization, But Use Modern Amenities

August 29, 2011 |

Question: My question is that Srila Prabhupad used to blaspheme for all new developments but we are utilizing all the modern items for our day to day use nowadays like — staying in a big building, travelling through airplane, using modern equipments for our health… how we do counteract when people ask that one way you are condemning modern civilization but in other than you are using the modern utilities…

My question is; will this be applicable when physically addressing while showing pranam i.e do we need to just show pranam and wait till the senior devotee say Hare Krishna and then respond with Hare Krishna?

Do we only offer dandavats to our diksa-guru not the other gurus or sannyasis in temple hall in front of Srila Prabhupada or the deities?

Promoting Gurukula in America

July 28, 2011 |

Question: I have been teaching in ISKCON schools in the USA for the past 30 yrs. Some of these schools (in the past) had boys' ashrams, which I believe is a good thing provided there are qualified teachers. Most (if not all) of the present ISKCON schools in America are day schools. Do you think ashrams or gurukulas will ever be revived here in America in the near future? What can those of us who still believe in that system do to promote the idea?

Question:

My question is regarding deity outfits. On Nrsimha Caturdasi, at an ISKCON temple in Germany, the deity of lord Nrsimhadev was dressed/pasted with different flavours/colours of sandesh milk sweet dough instead of any sort of cloth outfit.

Maharaja, my question is that is the above performed act, proper and in line with the scriptural rules of deity worship, just as during chandan yatra the deities are pasted with sandalwood paste or just as there are flower outfits for the deities in many temples? Or is it not to be accepted. I mean something similar to the previous incident of the deities dressed in Santa Claus outfits?
