Why I Don't Give Brahminical Initiation Easily

April 21, 2012 |

Maharaja, you are very strict in following Srila Prabhupada. Why is that you have those policies to give second initiation?

2) I've heard (maybe even in one of your lectures or in conversations with your disciples) that you won't be giving second initiation to those working for other people (having a sudra occupation). Recently, I was asked to speak to bhakti-school students in the temple about the desire for second initiation and I also came across quotes, saying that chanting the Gayatri mantra gradually delivers one from the material clutches (CC Madhya 8.138) and even more, unless one is initiated as a brahmana, one cannot worship the holy name properly. Why, then, second initiation isn't given more freely, considering only the qualities of a disciple and not his ways of maintenance as well or the need of second initiation for service only?

Question:

Could you please speak something regarding the verse and translation of SB 2.1.27 in which Srila Prabhupada writes that "The knees of the universal form are the planetary system of the name Sutala, and the two thighs are the Vitala and Atala planetary systems. The hips are Mahitala, and outer space is the depression of His navel."

And the verse and translation of SB 2. 5.40-41 in which Srila Prabhupada writes that "My dear son Narada, know from me that there are seven lower planetary systems out of the total fourteen. The first planetary system, known as Atala, is situated on the waist; the second, Vitala, is situated on the thighs; the third, Sutala, on the knees; the fourth, Talatala, on the shanks; the fifth, Mahatala, on the ankles; the sixth, Rasatala, on the upper portion of the feet; and the seventh, Patala, on the soles of the feet. Thus the virat form of the Lord is full of all planetary systems."

I am unable to understand it properly please explain it in a broad way.

Could you please share your vision on the books of Dr. OBL Kapoor (Adikesava prabhu). I am specifically interested to know your opinion regarding his biographies of the "Saints of Vraja". It has been recently published in Russian by devotees outside ISKCON and our devotees are enchanted by it. Still, some maintain their doubts about it. Should ISKCON devotees read this book?

His other book "The Saints of Bengal" is less popular since most of our devotees are aware of the existence of sakhi-bheki etc that it depicts.

I would be very grateful if you could advise us in this regard. Thank you very much.

Question:

In a lecture at the philosophical camp 2011, Baroda, Your Holiness gave a lecture titled "Path to hell is paved by good intentions". I have two questions related to this lecture:

1) Your Holiness said that one may think that his intentions are good, but it may not be good enough and one may not even know that. So how to ensure that one's intentions are good enough? Is that possible one may try his best to be good intentioned still his effort is not good enough?

2) Your Holiness mentioned that there are some main points that one must understand, then other misunderstandings can/will be cleared in a course of time. But Your Holiness didn't describe these main points. So if I can know which are these main points that one should understand?

Question:

My question is regarding deity outfits. On Nrsimha Caturdasi, at an ISKCON temple in Germany, the deity of lord Nrsimhadev was dressed/pasted with different flavours/colours of sandesh milk sweet dough instead of any sort of cloth outfit.

Maharaja, my question is that is the above performed act, proper and in line with the scriptural rules of deity worship, just as during chandan yatra the deities are pasted with sandalwood paste or just as there are flower outfits for the deities in many temples? Or is it not to be accepted. I mean something similar to the previous incident of the deities dressed in Santa Claus outfits?
