In Vedic literatures we see an emphasis of judging by the results, palena parichiyate, and this idea is more specifically highlighted in the biblical passage of Luke 6:44, where the first line states "A tree is identified by its fruit" This concept seems to be very deep, yet I do not properly understand it… Could you speak something on how to understand this principle? And how can we actually apply it, sometimes the result or fruit is hard to judge, or this process can give wrong results

This question has been answered by His Grace Gokula Candra Prabhu, a senior disciple of His Holiness Bhakti Vikasa Maharaj upon Maharaj's request.

Question:

I wanted to inform you of my current position as well as a bit of my past. Prior to moving to San Deigo I was a resident of Krsna House in Gainsvile Florida, in which I studied there for a year. Durning that time I spent most of it being guided by Caitanya davi dasi and Vallahba. I owe all of my advancement and whole being to these two devotees. Who took the time to fix me up directly onto the lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada.

As of now I have moved up to Berkley helping Maha Tattva with his preaching program and making my best endeavour to become a strong Brahmacari. I have been learning sloka’s, instruments, etiquette and other things favourable to my advancement in Krsna consciousness. I have also been going out on books six days a week and I will be leaving soon to go on one month trip to distribute books with some Bramacari’s in San Diego. The move up here so far has proven to be very good and the future looks very promising. I have only a few questions in the matter of discharging pure devotional service. I was wondering what way can I guarantee pure love of God and if there are certain things that I should do or habits I should adopt which will help.

I am not the most renounced nor am I the strongest preacher, but I solely desire to perfect this life in one lifetime and am willing to make an endeavour in that direction to the best of my ability by the mercy of Srila Prabhupada and the devotees. I was also wondering if you needed me to carry out a particular service in this lifetime and what pleases you the most.

Please help me to perfect this life because my mind is the worst enemy that I have. I don’t know anything nor do I have the power to do anything. I rely on the devotees and guidance from senior Vaisnavas.

Question:

  1. Few devotees would like to prepare for second initiation. How shall I prepare them? Do you have some special requirements? I am aware of those standards presented on BVKS.COM. We do not have any brahminical tests in our yatra.

  2. Common practice in CZ is to use flowers for several days as a decoration of the altar (if they still look fresh). Is that ok? I do not feel completely comfortable with it.

  3. While taking prasadam in a house of one grhastha – they were not used to close the altar of Gaura Nitai deities while honoring prasadam. They told us that there is no harm of eating in front of Gaura-Nitai, because they like to see devotees honoring prasadam. This they have supposedly heard from Salem devotees. I have never heard this. Could you please comment?

  4. If a devotee abandons his wife because he fell in love with another married woman and he starts to live with her – to which extend he shall be accepted by other devotees and community of vaisnavas? Is there any way to rectify this act? Can he lead a kirtan in the temple and so on?

  5. Is there any authorized standard of purity for cooking in the kitchen regarding our clothing. In our yatra it is usually set up as a standard to have only completely clean clothing. One is not supposed to cook in the clothes in which he ate or passed water. I didn´t see these standards so strict in India. I personally follow that – but I am not sure what to set up here as a standard. Especially when we are worshiping Guru Gauranga altar in the preaching centre.
