Question: I am getting bad dreams of ghost and negetive thoughts. My family suggested me to read Hanuman-chalisa but one Mataji suggested to me to wear Nrsimha-kavaca but another Mataji who is your disciple said that Maharaj told women not to wear Nrsimha-kavaca on neck. But I am feeling uncomfortable to wear it somewhere else. Please tell me what should I do?

Prahlada's Apparent Prayers for Material Benediction

July 3, 2015 |

Question: I could understand from Srimad Bhagavatam that Sri Prahalada Maharaja is fearless, he is a pure devotee of the Lord and does not ask for any material benefits from the Lord. But in the Nrsimha Kavaca mantra it states that; “Oh Lord please protect me from west, east, north etc. and there is also the phalastruti (result of reciting the kavaca) which states that one attains material benedictions like putrvan (good son), dhanavan (wealth), long life etc.… Expand>

Maharaja, kindly explain how to understand these two different moods of Prahlada Maharaja.

Question:

Few years back, at ISKCON Yamunanagar temple in Haryana, India, I attended a lecture by a devotee from ISKCON Delhi who was on guest visit. When asked about the importance of initiation in chanting, he told that without being initiated, our chanting the rounds is nearly ineffective. Only after initiation from spiritual master does our real chanting begins. He gave an analogy that without being initiated, our 64 rounds of chanting will hardly equal 16 rounds of an initiated person. Since then my interest in chanting has been flickering and I feel there is no use to chant if it doesn't count at all. And I do not thing I am qualified to be initiated now or ever in my life. Though I may chant sometimes, but in deep core of heart, these words discourage me every time. Please help.
