Do We Need to Spend Time on Introspection?

May 1, 2016 |

Question: When it comes to spiritual life, as a sadhaka, I am busy on constant survival mode, trying to chant, read, hear etc. Between this, do I need to spend time to self-introspect? For example, I was listing to a lecture of Jswami. In his lecture he was talking about how lust or desire is the cause of material bondage. Am I supposed to self-introspect myself and change this desire aspect or is this hovering over the mental plane?

No Desire to Serve the Lord in Santa Rati

July 7, 2012 |

In the purport to CC Madhya 8.294, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura is quoted poiting out that the Yamuna, the kadamba trees, cows, Krishna's flute and Krishna's sticks belong to the santa-rasa. Furthermore, in CC Madhya, 19.185 it's said that santa-rati is the neutral stage between the conception of impersonalism and personalism… not much willing to render service to the Lord.

It's difficult to understand how a living entity without the desire to render loving service can be in Goloka Vrndavana. And if I remember cows in Brahma-vimohana-lila, they seemed to have motherly affection toward Krishna (expanded as their calves). How to understand that the river Yamuna and the kalpa-vrksa trees also don't have much desire to serve?

Question:

Do you think Srila Prabhupada appointed 11 acaryas as was claimed by the 11 acaryas?

What were your views of this at the time and now?

What do you think were Srila Prabhupada's wishes regarding continuing initiations in ISKCON, Do you think he left this to the GBC to decide and to 'time' to decide (a bit like Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur not appointing an acarya/successor and wanting his disciples to continue preaching united under an official body)?

Sannyasi's Conduct With Woman

November 7, 2011 |

Question: Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's words regarding the sannyasa ashram are very cutting and pointed. They leave no room for doubt that such conduct may not be tolerated. This question has been answered by His Grace Gokulacandra Prabhu, a senior disciple of His Holiness Bhakti Vikasa Maharaj upon Maharaj's request.

Who is Called Sadhu and Acarya?

August 23, 2012 |

Question: I have a question regarding His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Did Srila Prabhupada ever call himself a saint or acarya in any situation? I am asking this because I don't think that I am able to tell who is saint and who is not.
