Do We Need to Spend Time on Introspection?

May 1, 2016 |

Question: When it comes to spiritual life, as a sadhaka, I am busy on constant survival mode, trying to chant, read, hear etc. Between this, do I need to spend time to self-introspect? For example, I was listing to a lecture of Jswami. In his lecture he was talking about how lust or desire is the cause of material bondage. Am I supposed to self-introspect myself and change this desire aspect or is this hovering over the mental plane?

Question:

How was it possible that Sukadeva Goswami became an impersonalist (Brahmavadi) but then became attracted to Krishna’s personalistic activities?

I ask this because I have heard from senior devotees that Suka is parrot of Radharani and that in his form as a parrot, he heard Bhagavatam from Lord Siva while he was explaining it to Mother Parvathi.

Also Sukadeva Goswami remained in the womb of his mother (Bitika) for around 16 years as he refused to come out. But after Krishna assured him that he will not be attracted by His Maya energy, then he came out. This means that Suka knows Krishna is supreme. Then how did he become an impersonalist.

How Women Should Offer Obeisances

June 4, 2012 |

Question: Certain individuals in ISKCON believe that women can offer dandavat pranams (fully prostrate on ground in a rod like fashion). Certain individuals in ISKCON believe that women can offer dandavat pranams (fully prostrate on ground in a rod like fashion). To support the argument they quote SB 8.17.5 where in Aditi fell to the ground like a rod to offer the Lord her respectful obeisances. Also cited is a video clip wherein a mataji is seen offering dandavat pranam to Srila Prabhupada.

Please comment on the above two instances in the context of the proper way of offering obeisances for women.

Can we expect a third world war because everything has become so sinful or will the sankirtan movement avert such a catastrophe by turning all the demons into devotees.
