How Women Should Offer Obeisances

June 4, 2012 |

Question: Certain individuals in ISKCON believe that women can offer dandavat pranams (fully prostrate on ground in a rod like fashion). To support the argument they quote SB 8.17.5 where in Aditi fell to the ground like a rod to offer the Lord her respectful obeisances. Question:

Certain individuals in ISKCON believe that women can offer dandavat pranams (fully prostrate on ground in a rod like fashion). To support the argument they quote SB 8.17.5 where in Aditi fell to the ground like a rod to offer the Lord her respectful obeisances. Also cited is a video clip wherein a mataji is seen offering dandavat pranam to Srila Prabhupada.

Please comment on the above two instances in the context of the proper way of offering obeisances for women.

No Desire to Serve the Lord in Santa Rati

Question:

In the purport to CC Madhya 8.294, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura is quoted poiting out that the Yamuna, the kadamba trees, cows, Krishna's flute and Krishna's sticks belong to the santa-rasa. Furthermore, in CC Madhya, 19.185 it's said that santa-rati is the neutral stage between the conception of impersonalism and personalism… not much willing to render service to the Lord.

It's difficult to understand how a living entity without the desire to render loving service can be in Goloka Vrndavana. And if I remember cows in Brahma-vimohana-lila, they seemed to have motherly affection toward Krishna (expanded as their calves). How to understand that the river Yamuna and the kalpa-vrksa trees also don't have much desire to serve?

Response to Incidence of Falldown of a Sannyasi

October 31, 2013 |

Question: Please clear our doubts regarding the fall down of His Holiness Mahanidhi Maharaja. (1) When people in general see these events they may question why we criticize others, when some of our own leaders fall down, how do we answer them? (2) We want to go out and boldly to speak what Srila Prabhupada taught us, but fear that if someone raises this issue we will not know how to answer him back? By events like these our confidence gets weak.
