Chanting for Others

Question:

Maharaj, most of the ISKCON centers have custom to chant Hare Krishna Mahamantra for devotees who sponsor prasadam, or perform any important service, or if they are sick. Recently I heard from a lecture that this system which is been followed in even most of the important ISKCON centers is wrong and this is a namaparadha and offense since it's a misusage of Holy name! And also I heard in that lecture since the meaning of Hare Krishna Mahamantra is please engage me in your (Krsna's) service, How can we chant for somebody else?

Maharaj please clarify this doubt? Is anything wrong if we chant in public for some others for their service to encourage them ?

How to Identify Namacarya?

November 19, 2011 |

Question: In Sri Bhaktisiddhanta Vaibhava, volume 3 – Genuine and False Gaura Bhajana, Page 81, Srila Sarasvati Thakura makes a point that namacarya free from namapradha and namabhasa can give the Holy Name. And further that one should take shelter of a "pure namacarya". How does this apply in today's context within ISKCON, how does one know who is a namacarya to receive the Holy name from or approach for shelter?

Question: I listened to your lecture tonight and It was very nice. I liked it. But at a point you said "Parents are busy giving 'So called Higher Education' to their children. I do not agree with it. I feel education is very important. Most of the Devotee's in ISKCON are from institutions like MIT,IIT etc… According to me the education plays a important role in understanding the spiritual science. Please make me understand this point.
