Question:

As per ISKCON, Ekadasi fasting means not to eat any food grains at all. But, in the very famous Guruvayoor temple of Kerala, on Ekadasi cooked broken wheat is offered to Lord Guruvayoorappan, who is none other than Sakshath MahaVishnu. This is offered as "Prasadam" to devotees. Iskcon follows vedic scriptures, but why there is a difference in sampradaya?

This question has been answered by His Grace Gokula Candra Prabhu, a senior disciple of His Holiness Bhakti Vikasa Maharaj upon Maharaj's request.

Mahamrityunjaya mentions Lord Siva as Supreme

January 6, 2014 |

Question: In Rigveda(RV 7.59.12) is given the Mahamrtyunjaya mantra which states that Lord Siva can award liberation just as a gardener frees a ripened cucumber from its creeper. However Srila Prabhupada in Bhagavad-Gita As It Is very clearly states that Lord Siva is under the influence of maya so it is not possible for him to release the conditioned soul from the clutches of maya (Chap 7 Verse 15 purport). How can this be reconciled?

Standards for Cooking for Deities and Pictures

May 1, 2016 |

Question: As far as cooking prasada for the deities, the standard as I know is to be second initiated. Does this apply to cooking for the devotees and offering it to a picture? In Krishna house they have devotees cooking who chant 8 rounds and its questionable if they are following the regulated principles. Would this effect one's consciousness and can this be considered a fit offering to the Lord?
