1. Unnecessarily we make things complicated

You recognize, "God is my father, and I shall be obedient son." That's all. You do what father says, then you become obedient son. The father says, "Always think of Me," man-mana bhava mad-bhakto mad-yaji mam namaskuru [Bg. 18.65], you can think of the father always. Where is the difficulty? Just like we're... Krsna is the father. You see Krsna daily.
  2. Brahmanas must read or remain as fool number one

Without becoming a learned scholar nobody can become a brahmana... We are also giving our student position as brahmana, but if he remains a fool number one, then we are misusing our attempt. He should be very learned scholar. That should be the aim. And there is no difficulty to become a learned scholar because we have got so many books. You simply read and digest what we are speaking. Not that we are simply meant for selling books....
  3. Acaryas declare war against bingo

Don't be falsely puffed up. Follow the acarya's instruction and try to make yourself perfect, mature. Then it will be very easy to fight out maya. Yes. Acaryas, they declare war against maya's activities, that maya instructing that "Here is wine. Here is cigarette. Here is that..." In your country these advertisements are very prominent, hoarding both ways: wine advertisement, cigarette advertisement, naked woman advertisement, and sometimes gambling also, advertisement. What is that? Congo? Devotees: Bingo.
  4. Books to the scholarly elite

Our distribution of literature solves our material financial difficulty as well as making propaganda. But you have not gone to the actual reading public: schools, colleges, university libraries. The scholarly reading public you have not yet touched. Is it not? Scholarly reading public means libraries, schools, colleges, universities. But you have not touched them. You are simply distributing on the street. Our literature is meant for higher section, scholarly section.
  5. Always suffering, but thinking this world is nice

Material nature's only business is beating us and kicking us. But we are so foolish that we think, "This kicking is very nice." That is our disease -- we accept the kicking as very nice. We are always suffering three kinds of disturbances: adhyatmika, adhibhautika, and adhidaivika. These are disturbances caused by our own body and mind, disturbances caused by other living entities, and disturbances caused by the demigods, like severe weather or famine. We are always suffering from...
  6. Read my books very seriously every day without fail

Our advancement in Krishna Consciousness is made possible in two ways, by Knowledge and renunciation, jnana and tyaga or tapasya. The more we become renounced from this material world, the more we advance in Krishna Consciousness. But we are only able to make such sacrifices and perform tapasya if we have got knowledge. So first thing is to become knowledgeable in Krishna Consciousness, then the tapasya or voluntary life of austerity will result automatically.
  7. No ghosts where there is chanting

Mother Yasoda was firmly convinced that she should protect her child from different kinds of evil spirits and ghosts -- namely Dakinis, Yatudhanis, Kusmandas, Yaksas, Raksasas, Vinayakas, Kotaras, Revatis, Jyesthas, Putanas, Matrkas, Unmadas and similar other evil spirits, who cause persons to forget their own existence and give trouble to the life airs and the senses. Sometimes they appear in dreams and cause much perturbation; sometimes they appear as old women and suck the blood of small children. But...
  8. How spiritual life is hampered

I request you to continue following all of the regulative principles staunchly and encourage all other of my disciples in your preaching area to do the same. This is the most important thing. As soon as one discontinues his staunch following of the regulative principles such as no meat eating, no illicit sex, no intoxication, no gambling, rising early before 4:00, coming to mangala arati, chanting at least 16 rounds, etc., then his spiritual life is hampered and there...
