I was raised in America and came of age during the rise of the women’s liberation movement and the sexual revolution. Luckily, I was too young to participate in all those so-called newfound freedoms, but unfortunately they did have an effect on my consciousness. I came across Śrīla Prabhupāda’s teachings quite late in my life, but it was not hard for me to see that Śrīla Prabhupāda was presenting the Absolute Truth. I could easily see that Kṛṣṇa had designed a template for a perfect society. Re-establishment of varṇāśrama-dharma seemed to be the best way to save society. His Holiness Bhakti Vikāsa Mahārāja has outlined so many reasons why this is true in his book Women: Masters or Mothers? It would benefit all devotees to read his book with an open mind and an open heart. ISKCON needs to fully accept Śrīla Prabhupāda’s instructions and desires and create communities where devotees can live the way that Kṛṣṇa intended.
I realize that there are many controversial topics presented herein by His Holiness, but I know in my heart that what he says is right and true. We may not like the bitter medicine, but it is what we need right now to save society. Śrīla Prabhupāda wanted us to carry forth his mission, and the only way we can stay true to his teachings is to follow varṇāśrama-dharma as fully as possible in this Age of Kali. This book can show us the ideal, and the closer we can get to this ideal, the closer we will come to Kṛṣṇa.
