To keep the gopis in Vrndavana satisfied, Lord Balarama stayed there continuously for two months, namely the months of Caitra (March–April) and Vaisakha (April–May). For those two months He kept Himself among the gopis, and He passed every night with them in the forest of Vrndavana to satisfy their desire for conjugal love.

Srila Prabhupada said: So you have to fight. Krsna never said, 'Arjuna, oh, you are My devotee, you sit down and sleep, I shall take care of . . . ' He never said that. So if you take that position -- we are devotees, non violent, and let us sleep .. . . Fight! With all the resources that we have got. That is wanted.

Prabhupada talked a lot on his walk, especially focusing on the topic of the gurukula. He told Giriraja, the temple president, that a large gurukula should be constructed on our land here in Bombay. He said that twice a day the boys can come to the beach and sport and swim. In this way they will grow healthy, get a good education, and become men of good character.

Service for Krsna should not be accepted as profession for livelihood. It should be simply for the service of the Lord. For the service of the Lord you can collect millions of dollars, but for your livelihood you cannot take one dollar from any person.

Banabatta Dasa was temple commander in Mayapur during the 1976 GBC meetings. Don't manufacture duty. Duty is already there. Take it up and be happy. We are doing that. How we say, "Here is duty"? We may be not very much learned, but we take the simple thing, that's all.

Not only in the present age but from time immemorial, no one has liked an old man who is unable to earn in the family. H.H. Tamal Krsna Dasa Goswami related that in the early days of ISKCON Los Angeles he was the temple commander and Madhudvisa Prabhu was the treasurer. On weekdays Madhudvisa Prabhu would collect from the devotees the income from sankirtan, but at the weekend, when money was needed for the Sunday festival, he was not to be found.

In the conditioned state the living being is not satisfied even if he actually becomes the lord of all that he surveys, which he never becomes, and therefore he becomes the victim of all kinds of cheating, even with his nearest and most intimate relations.
