The pranama-mantra of Srila Prabhupada was humbly recited by his followers in every conceivable instance such as when a disciple was introduced to another swami, or in the occasion of bowing down in any church of place of worship, and sometimes before parents and other startled relatives and friends. When Deity worship began in the […]

Srila Prabhupada walked to the edge of the temple (in Mumbai). There was a building that had remained outside of ISKCON’s possession after the rest of the property had been acquired and it was owned by a man by the name of Mr. Ragnaparki so we called it the Ragnaparki house. Since Srila Prabhupada’s last […]

Krsna appears in this world for two purposes, paritranaya sadhunam vinasaya ca duskrtam: [Bg. 4.8] to protect the innocent, religious devotees of the Lord and to annihilate all the uneducated, uncultured asuras, who unnecessarily bark like dogs and fight among themselves for political power. It is said, kali-kale nama-rupe krsna avatara. The Hare Krsna movement […]

Once on a morning walk in Melbourne, a devotee who was following close behind, eager to hear everything that Srila Prabhupada said, made the blunder of accidentally stepping on his guru’s heel. Srila Prabhupada stopped, turned around, looked admonishingly at disciple, then turned back and continued walking. Shortly thereafter, that disciple made the same mistake. […]

Mahamsa Swami recently returned from Vrndavana where he was summoned by Srila Prabhupada. Prabhupada had just ended a seven day fast when Mahamsa Swami arrived, and now he is beginning to eat again. His Divine Grace had been very ill. Mahamsa Swami described Srila Prabhupada as being very white, and for the first time He […]

Pusta Krsna: Anxiety for one’s self is maya? Prabhupada: That is material. Pusta Krsna: And anxiety for Krsna? Prabhupada: That is spiritual. Rupa Gosvami’s sloka, krsna-bhakti-rasa-bhavita matih kriyatam yadi kuto ‘pi labhyate  [Cc. Madhya 8.70]: “The anxiety for Krsna, if it can be purchased, immediately purchase it.” Rupa Gosvami said. Krsna-bhakti-rasa-bhavita matih kriyatam: “Just purchase […]

Brahmananda: What would be your advice to her? [Indira Gandhi] Prabhupada: My first step will be to capture all the hoarders and distribute the grains free. Immediately public will be obliged to… There are immense food grains; they are simply hoarded. They are not selling without good price. This is going on. Immediately she can […]

Krsna is dancing — you have seen — similarly, our position is simply dancing with Krsna and be happy. That is our position. But we have come to this material world to enjoy independently of Krsna. Therefore we have been captured by the illusory energy. From Srila Prabhupada’s lecture on Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.2.9 — Hyderabad, April […]

Prema means when you engage to yourself for satisfying Krsna’s senses. Why gopis are exalted? Because their only endeavor was to satisfy Krsna’s senses. Therefore Caitanya Mahaprabhu recommended, ramya kacid upasana vraja-vadhu-vargena ya kalpita. They had no other business. From Srila Prabhupada’s lecture on Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.7.24 — September 21, 1976, Vrndavana

The thieves and rogues of modern democracy seek election by misrepresentation of votes, and the successful rogues and thieves are like wolves who devour the mass of population as if they were scattered lambs. One trained monarch is far better than hundreds of useless ministerial rogues, and it is hinted herein that by the abolition […]

Vrndavana is not meant for making a solution of the economic condition — one who has nothing to eat outside should come and beg capati and roti from door to door. Rupa Gosvami did madhukari. Rupa Gosvami used to beg. Not beg, collecting twenty capatis. Only one or two, that’s all. Not to collect the […]

Prabhupada: There is chance of being accepted all over the world. They are… There is now opposition, and some of the politicians, they’re of opinion that “This culture, Hare Krsna movement, is spreading like epidemic, and if we do not check, in ten years’ time they’ll take the government.” Indian man (1): Of America. Prabhupada: […]
